Members of the Bank Board of Directors must have a university degree
This is the new content stipulated in the 2017 amended Law on Credit Institutions passed by the 14th National Assembly at its 4th session.
Accordingly, additional standards and conditions for members of the Board of Directors and Members’ Council of credit institutions (CIs) are added, specifically:

Have a university degree or higher and meet one of the following conditions:
- Have at least 03 years as a manager or operator of a credit institution;
- Have at least 05 years as a manager or operator of an enterprise operating in the finance, banking, accounting, auditing industry or an enterprise with capital at least equal to the legal capital for the corresponding type of credit institution;
- Have at least 05 years working directly in the professional department of finance, banking, accounting, and auditing.

The 2017 amended Law on Credit Institutions takes effect from January 15, 2018.
