In cases where health insurance cards have expired, they will still enjoy benefits

Vietnam Social Security issued Official Dispatch 5917/BHXH-CSYT on ensuring the rights and obligations of patients with health insurance who are undergoing treatment but their health insurance cards have expired.

Accordingly, for health insurance participants who are undergoing outpatient treatment but their health insurance cards have expired, they will be entitled to health insurance benefits for that outpatient treatment.

In addition, social insurance also guides implementation for cases where patients are receiving inpatient treatment and their health insurance cards expire on December 31, 2017:

The social insurance agency coordinates with medical facilities to review and establish a patient list; Check and determine the reason why the patient does not have a health insurance card valid from January 1, 2018:

– In case you do not have a health insurance card because the preparation of the list of requests for issuance of health insurance cards is not timely (except for the group of subjects with HC and DN codes), then the health insurance benefits will be temporarily resolved until the end of the treatment period.

– In case you have participated in health insurance but have not yet received the card, the social insurance agency will issue to the patient a receipt of documents and an appointment to return the results or a Receipt of collection of health insurance premiums clearly stating the old health insurance card code.
